What I learned in over 20 years of experience about the benefits of regular massage therapy
Our body is a complicated mechanism with many factors that can affect our health. According to the current situation of the client, massage could have an amazing effect, or no effect at all.
Why?
Because a massage affects the receiver mainly at 3 levels: physical level, mental level, energetic level (if you believe in that). If the client is in pain, that pain could have a physical cause (an injury) or a mental cause (psychosomatic). If it’s the mind causing the pain, in this case the client might benefit much more from a relaxing massage, than a hard and painful manual therapy.
Why having it regularly?
Our body, like a car, needs maintenance. And like a car, the older we get, the higher is the need of it.
If the expectations is to go to a massage therapist every 6 months and hoping in a miracle, well… you might be up for a bitter disappointment.
Don’t you bring your car to the mechanic regularly? Don’t you see the benefits? Then why are you not applying the same principle to your body and enjoying the benefits of regular massage therapy? The car you can change…
Note: in my experience I noticed that the best cost-benefit schedule for the best results is twice a month. Unless you are a pro or semi-pro athlete, in that case the body is your tools and a weekly maintenance is of paramount importance.
